Minor League Cricket welcomes players who will be 16 years or older as of September 1, 2020 to register for the 2020 season. Younger players will not be considered for selection this season.

Each person, or legal guardian, needs to be responsible for processing their own registration, or their child’s registration, as the online registration provides consent on behalf of the player to participate in Minor League Cricket. Once selected in a team, the adult player registered, or the legal guardian, will have to complete and sign all required Waiver and Acknowledgement forms.

Each team will consist of a roster of 18 players, which includes three Professional players, twelve Amateur Players, and a minimum of three Under-21 players. The gameday squad of 13 players can only be selected from the team’s 18-player roster.

Professionals are those players who have previously represented a team in either international, first class, list A, or top-level domestic T20 cricket; or otherwise approved by Minor League Cricket to be categorized as Professionals.

U21 Players are those players who will be 21 years or younger as of September, 1st 2020, and must be USA National Team-eligible, or in the process of fulfilling their USA National Team eligibility criteria.

Amateurs are those players who are not deemed Professionals or Under-21 (as per the definitions above) and are currently USA National Team-eligible, as per ICC guidelines.

Draft Zones are the designated geographical zones that will be used to determine the Amateur and U21 players that teams are able to draft. A player will be categorized into a Draft Zone based on the players’ registered residential address, which will be verified upon their selection to a team.

Minor League Cricket will announce the Draft Zone for each team and draft rules shortly.

A player can nominate his interest in representing a particular team within their Draft Zone through a dropdown menu appearing on the registration form, based on their residential address. The Selection Committee of the nominated team will have the opportunity in selecting that player prior to the draft process, designating them as a Priority Amateur player. Teams are allowed to select up to three Priority Amateur players. If a player is not selected as a Priority Amateur, then the player will be automatically available for selection by any team in their draft zone, through the draft process.

Once the selection process is completed, Minor League Cricket will announce a complete list of selected players and teams that will be represented for the 2020 season. Minor League Cricket teams will also contact players to inform them about their selection.
